Description
This is a specialized program designed for warehouse environments, recognizing the critical role of powered industrial trucks, particularly forklifts and straddle stackers. The course sheds light on the seven different classes of forklifts, with a focus on the unique characteristics of Class A forklifts, specifically designed for compact warehouses with narrow aisles. Participants will delve into the operational intricacies of electric motor hand trucks, narrow aisle trucks, and hand rider forklifts, commonly known as "waukee" or straddle stackers. Despite their smaller size, these forklifts can pose significant workplace hazards, including load-related incidents, tipping, and collisions, making comprehensive training imperative.
Objectives
- Differentiate between the seven classes of forklifts, emphasizing the unique features of Class A forklifts designed for compact warehouses with narrow aisles
- Identify and comprehend the various configurations of electric motor hand trucks, narrow aisle trucks, and hand rider forklifts falling under classes two and three
- Identify the key distinctions between electric pallet jacks and straddle stackers, with a focus on the straddle stacker's ability to raise or lower loads above several feet
